Overview
A four-part series based on the first volume of Stanisława Fleszarowa-Muskat’s novel "Tak Trzymać" (1974–1977). The story portrays the early pioneering years of the construction of the Port of Gdynia, a project of immense scale and cost for its time.

EP 1 - Episode 1
Inspired by news of a new port, Krzysztof heads to the coast. After being robbed, he wanders by the sea until dawn. The next morning, he joins a recruitment line and, with three other young men, takes a job on the railway as construction begins.

Krzysztof works in the port director’s office. Encouraged by Helena, he resumes his studies and prepares for his final exams. After spending the night searching for a place to stay, he finds refuge in Brother Augustyn’s cottage.

Encouraged by a friend, Krzysztof plans to leave Poland but decides to stay in Gdynia. He passes his final exams with distinction. Bernard gives him a silver pocket watch, and he visits Brother Augustyn with the engaged couple.

Krzysztof and Łucka marry in a quiet ceremony. When an economic crisis halts construction of the port, they turn to fishing for a living. After the minister orders work to resume, they begin making plans for the future.
